What is Love Mercy?
- Three intense days of powerful speakers, artists and community focused on pursuing God’s call for their lives and expressing worship for our Savior Jesus Christ.
- These Wesleyan Youth Conventions seek to bring the simple truth that God’s Word challenges us to face the needs of our world by asking us do these three things. Embracing Micah 6:8 helps settle the dust and the noise from the world and turns our focus toward the important…the eternal. - Love Mercy ‘09 will be a catapult launching students out to live for God in their schools and in their communities. You’re invited you to be a key player in seeing a generation become all that God desires and empowers them to be. -
What's the Vision?
- The vision is clear: Do Justice, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly with God. This ringing call to action is the answer given by the prophet Micah 6:8, to the question, "What does the Lord require of you, Israel?"
- Sin has done two things; it has broken our ability as individuals to be in right relationship with God, and it is painfully obvious that sin has broken the world around us as well. What are you supposed to do to live faithfully with your God? Do justice, love mercy, walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8) - This tracks with the vision of SetApart ’07 which reminded of the nearness of God, our relationship to Christ, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit to enable us to live holy lives in a world that is unholy. It empowers us for acts of mercy, justice, and peace in the world. - The Challenge of Love Mercy may bring fear and uncertainty. To open ourselves to be used by God in this manner takes a bold step of faith. Love Mercy may threaten our privileges, it may demands change in our daily lives. Love Mercy is far more than a warm fuzzy feeling, a smile of encouragement or a hand-out. Love Mercy sees the dignity of every child of God, and compels us to respond to make a difference, even at a cost to ourselves. To risk our privileges and our comfort is to fulfill the vision of Love Mercy: to proclaim the Good News of God's compassion in Christ, to love our neighbor as ourselves, to work for justice and peace, respecting the dignity of every human person. To live out our Faith is to: Do Justice, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly with God. -
